We are runners in the New York City neighborhoods of Woodside, Sunnyside and surrounding areas of Queens. THERE IS NOTHING more natural than hiking through nature barefoot. The soles of your feet and toes are wonderful sensory organs and the myriad of feelings from earth, grass, moss, pine-needles, and mud are wonderful. Many could not see hiking any other way. HIKING BAREFOOT causes virtually no trail erosion since a bare foot makes much less of an imprint than a booted foot. Bare feet are therefore the environmentally sound choice for hiking. THE BAREFOOT HIKERS are groups of people who enjoy hiki …

A hash is modeled after an old-fashioned British paper chase. One hasher, designated as a “hare,” marks out a trail using chalk or flour, usually setting false trails and obstacles along the way. Fellow hashers, known as the “pack,” follow the hare’s trail, which traditio …

There are plenty of groups out there for competitive runners but not much for the runners who want a laid back environment to meet new friends, keep them motivated to run, and have company when training for a race (or run for other reasons -- personal goa …
